ANNOUNCEMENT POLICY

I. Announcements

A. Defined as: Appropriate announcements include the following:

1. NALP/WALRAA related announcements

2. New member introductions

3. WALRAA Committee updates

B. The President must approve announcements outside of the three (3) aforementioned areas.

C. Member announcements can be posted under “Membership Announcements” on the WALRAA website at www.walraa.org if not deemed ‘meeting appropriate’, subject to approval by the President.

II. Community Organizations

A. Defined as: Organizations with an IRC § 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt status, whose programs, in the view of WALRAA’s President, serve the community’s charitable needs. WALRAA will not affiliate themselves with Organizations who:

1. Discriminate on the basis of race, religion, political affiliation, or sexual orientation;

2. Serve only a particular religious or political group;

3. Describe themselves as fraternal, religious or political organizations

B. Written materials approved by the President will be allowed at the Registration Table or at the lunch tables.

C. Community organization representatives will not be permitted to speak at WALRAA meetings unless otherwise approved by the President.

D. Community organizations will not be permitted to send email correspondence directly to the membership or advertise on the WALRAA website except as set forth in section V.

E. President approved emails or announcements will be sent to the membership via an email from the Secretary.

III. Consultants

A. Defined as: For-Profit entities that provide educational information to the WALRAA membership. If a consultant proposes to host a meeting, the following rules apply:

1. Hosting a Program is Defined as: Presenting a WALRAA Board approved forty-five (45) minute program, supplemented with their Resource’s materials, which will benefit the professional development of the WALRAA membership.

2. Consultants will not be permitted to send email correspondence directly to the membership or advertise on the WALRAA website except as set forth in section V.

3.The membership list can be distributed at the discretion of the BOD to any third party employed by WALRAA.

B. Written materials approved by the President will be allowed at the Registration Table or at the lunch tables.

IV. Vendors

A. Defined as: For-profit organizations. If a vendor proposes to host a meeting, the following rules apply:

1. Vendors will not be allowed to advertise or speak at WALRAA meetings exception: Organizations sponsoring a meeting will be allowed approximately five (5) minutes to speak.

2. Vendors will not be permitted to send email correspondence directly to the membership or advertise on the WALRAA website except as set forth in section V.

B. Written materials approved by the President will be allowed at the Registration Table or at the lunch tables.

V.  Posting of Events and Programs Sponsored by Community Organizations, Consultants and Vendors

With the approval of the President, information about events and/or programs sponsored by Community Organizations, Consultants and Vendors that directly involve the WALRAA membership may be posted on the WALRAA website under the “Other Announcements” subheading of the “Special Announcements” section.  It is the responsibility of the sponsoring organization to provide the information in an electronic format.  Postings will be removed from the website after the date on which the event or program is held.

VI. Visitors

A. Defined as: Anyone who is not on the WALRAA membership list

B. Due to catering & spacing issues, all visitors to WALRAA meetings must be approved by the President. When possible, approval should be sought at least five (5) business days before the scheduled meeting.

C. After approval by the President, the WALRAA member hosting the guest must RSVP for themselves and their guest (provide name, title, organization) via the WALRAA RSVP email or phone line.
