Events Information

WALRAA holds several types of events for it's members.  These include:

• Monthly Member Meetings
• 8-Minute Networking Event, Thursday Feb. 23, 2012
• Summer Associate Diversity Event
• Mentoring Events
• Educational Conference

From time to time WALRAA may have events that are open to non-members for a fee.  Please contact our WALRAA Vice President at walraarsvp@gmail.com for additional information on specific events.

Monthly Meetings

These meetings are for payed WALRAA members and generally occur on the third Wednesday of every month, except during the months of August and September.  Topics range from our Annual NALP Conference Recap, to Current Perspectives on Diversity Recruiting in Law Firms, to Successful Presentations and Communication.  For more information on our WALRAA Monthly Meetings, please contact our WALRAA Vice President at walraarsvp@gmail.com.

8-Minute Networking Event

This WALRAA-sponsored event occurs in February each year.  This year, the 8th Annual Diversity 8 Minute Networking Event will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. at the Washington Marriott Metro Center.

The event enables law students to network with members of the legal community, and begin the very important process of building professional relationships. The 8-Minute Networking Event provides participating attorneys the opportunity to engage in one-on-one conversations with a number of first-year law students from local law schools in 8-minute intervals.  Afterwards, WALRAA holds a reception to provide attorneys and law students the opportunity for further informal networking.  For more information on the 8-Minute Networking Event, please contact our WALRAA Diversity Committee Co-Chairs.  Contact information can be found on our Committees page.

Summer Associate Diversity Event

This WALRAA-sponsored event occurs in June or July each year, and is a wonderful opportunity for member organization attorneys and summer associates to network with other legal professionals.  The theme of the event changes each year.  For more information on the Summer Associate Diversity Event, please contact our WALRAA Diversity Committee Co-Chairs.  Contact information can be found on our Committees page.

Educational Conference 

The WALRAA Educational Conference is held every other year and typically occurs in March.  The Conference is a half day of programming for WALRAA members and also includes a vendor fair.  Program topics generally include recent trends or issues in our field.  For more information on our WALRAA Conference, please contact our Educational Conference Committee Co-Chairs.  Contact information can be found on our Committees page.
