What is WALRAA? The Washington Area Legal Recruitment Administrators Association, commonly referred to as WALRAA, is a professional association for legal human resource personnel from law firms, law schools, and government agencies in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
What does that mean? Law firm and government agency members are typically responsible for recruiting lawyers and law school students and/or facilitating their professional development. Law school members can be found in career services offices, law student and graduate professional development, and alumni services.
WALRAA is governed by a Board of Directors elected each year by the membership and supported by committees with leaders appointed by the Board.
WALRAA members are known for being warm, welcoming and willing to provide each other with advice, support and camaraderie. Even though many of us are considered competitors, we believe that the legal profession is better when we work together to achieve our goals. To this end, WALRAA provides its members with programming, social interactions and leadership opportunities through participation in committees that will allow them to develop professionally and personally.
